Teach Fzx Tuesday - Video Substitute

Out for two weeks for shoulder surgery with no physics certified sub, I had to figure out a way to keep the class moving and give them good labs to do.  The topic was circuits.

I used the district provided iPad and iMovie to provide practical instruction on ammeter and voltmeter use.

I put out a compare and contrast video on series vs. parallel circuits:

And a supplementary video instructions for laboratory exercises.

The videos were good and short.  I don't want to waste anyone's time.

From the labs and quizzes I've corrected, it worked pretty well.  These videos, combined with the textbook, internet links, solution guides were all that the students needed to get most of what was required from that two weeks,

My chemistry certified sub was great.  She is not too timid to command a class, is not intimidated by science, and took physics recently.  She even said "I like circuits.  It was good to deal with them again."  Thanks, Alyssa.

So thanks to modern technology, a good substitute, and responsible students, education continued in my two week absence.
