Tek Tip 2sD - Grass over Rocks

Grass won't stay growed over a rock base.

Our back yard is basically level but it was filled with rubble, then gravel, and then covered with a skinny top layer of soil on which the grass grew green for a while.  Not any more.  Those rocks have to be removed.

That took 11 buckets of rocks.

Freaky Fzx Friday - Neutrinos

Radioactivity is the process whereby a nucleus becomes more stable by ejecting particles and energy.

By 1931 we had been studying radioactive decay for 3 decades.  Beta decay is one type.  An electron is kicked out from the nucleus by a process that looks like this.

There are no electrons in the nucleus so the process is a bit strange.  Imagine that a neutron in the nucleus becomes a proton and an electron and the electron gets ejected from the nucleus.

Tek Tip 2sD - Extension Cords

Unlike many things in life, shorter is better for extension cords.  Fatter too.

Longer = more resistance = more VOLTAGE LOSS and more HEAT LOSS

Tek Tip 2sD - Light Bulbs

A long time ago, Thomas Edison patented the first light bulb with open market success.  That was 1879.  It's an evacuated glass tube with a glowing filament that puts out immediate light and a lot of heat.

Here are three bulbs from last 2sD's Tek Tip

Freaky Fzx Friday - Medical Radioisotopes

This is the periodic table.  You study it extensively in Chemistry and we begin Nuclear Science with a quick review of it.

That's all about the electrons and the valence shells and how atoms interact to form molecules.  Below is the chart of the nuclides and it's all about the nuclei and their masses and modes of radioactive decay.  Every tiny block is a different nucleus.

Tek Tip 2sD - Dryer Repair #2

Last year I had to replace the belt on my dryer.  YouTube helped me with the replacement.

Dryer Repair #1

This time my wife told me it wasn't heating the clothes.  When I tested it, of course, it worked fine so I opened the burner inspection cover and watched it while testing all the settings.

I turned again to my YouTube assistant.
