There are separated bicycle/rollerblade and pedestrian walkways circling downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park. Walkers get the path closer to the water. Cyclists dismount when the paths intermingle.
The temperature started around freezing and hovered just above that point all day. I was fine in the sun but toes and fingers got a bit numb when in the shade for more than a few minutes. There was frost on everything. Ice in places too.

Imagine waking to these views every morning.
There was even a beach but it was a bit cold for a dip. The frost was beautiful. The bike too.
The wheels picked up sand and frost and threw it all over the bike. And on me.
I rounded the corner after the beach and came out of the shadows. No wonder it's seriously expensive to live here.
Walk 200 meters from your building - go to the beach - go sailing - spend hours in the park - drive half an hour north to ski. What a place to live.
This was the mascot for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Native American.
A view to the west. The barges are apparently permanent since they are in the Google Earth photo too but I don't know why.
Looking northwest at the city.
Wanna charge your car? These were the only two charging stations I saw. Not exactly convenient.
Then I crossed the Burrard Street Bridge heading southwest to "Greater Vancouver" - no longer downtown.
